R. Brent Malone: Reincarnation
This retrospective exhibition, covering 50 years of the late
artist’s career, opened last Saturday. Curated by Dr. Erica Moiah James, it
features well over 200 works documenting Malone’s professional journey as an
artist and institution builder.
All members of the public are invited to view the exhibition during
the NAGB’s operating hours. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday
to Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Normal admission is $5 for students
12 and over, $7 for local adults and $10 for visitors. All local adults and
children receive free admission on Sundays.

COB talks continue
In collaboration with Dr. Ian Bethell-Bennett's COB class on race,
class and gender, the NAGB is hosting talks given by noted activists thoughout
the month of November.
All members of the public are welcomed to attend free of charge.
The next talk will be led by Janet Bostwick presenting her ideas on
the Women’s Suffrage Movement. The discussion will take place from 6 to 8 p.m.
on November 5.
Tru-Tru Bahamian Festival
The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas (NAGB) is pleased to
announce its presence at next weekend’s Tru-Tru Bahamian Festival, hosted by
John Watling’s Distillery. From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., on November 7, the NAGB will
host a membership drive and pop-up shop at the festival’s ‘creative nook’.
The festival is intended to be a celebration of Bahamian
culture and heritage and will feature games, music and dance, handicrafts, food
and drink. The Royal Bahamas Police Force Band, Gerald Cash Primary School Rake
‘n’ Scrape Band, College of The Bahamas Jams Session Band, Ira Storr and the
Spank Band and the C.R. Walker Senior High School Junkanoo Parade will all be
featured.
